Halloween Busy Box Activities for Kindergarten and First Grade

Halloween Busy Box Activities for Kindergarten and First Grade

October is such a fun time to sneak a little extra learning into our homeschool days! 🎃

And ya know what I LOVE? Activities that my kids can pull out and work on independently while I'm getting something else done (or enjoying a cup of coffee while it's still warm 😂).

That's exactly why I love these Halloween Busy Box Activities for Kindergarten and First Grade!

They're simple, hands-on math and literacy activities that keep little learners practicing important skills without feeling like they're doing another worksheet.

What's Included in the Halloween Busy Box?

This printable Halloween busy box includes 25 activity mats covering 20 different math and literacy skills!

You'll find activities for practicing:

Literacy & Phonics:

  • Letter formation and beginning sounds

  • Short and long vowels

  • Word families and spelling

  • Beginning blends and digraphs

  • Vowel teams, syllables, and suffixes

Math:

  • Addition and subtraction

  • Place value and making ten

  • Shapes and graphing

  • Telling time

  • Money and beginning fractions

There are also tracing, play dough, cube, and scavenger hunt activities for even more hands-on fun!

Most activities are geared toward first grade, but you can absolutely choose individual activities for kindergarteners or second graders depending on the skills they're working on.

Simple to Prep and Use Again and Again!

One of my favorite things about these activities is how easy they are to keep organized!

Simply print, cut, and laminate the activity mats. Then tuck them into standard photo storage boxes with any matching cards or manipulatives you'll need.

You can use things you probably already have around the house, like:

  • Dry erase markers

  • Play dough

  • Pom poms

  • Mini erasers

  • Crayons or markers

  • Small counting cubes

And here's another thing I LOVE!

Every activity includes two versions! One may include matching pieces, while the other keeps everything right on the activity mat without extra little cards to manage.

Because sometimes the fewer pieces we have to keep track of, the better. 😂

Easy Halloween Learning for Your Homeschool Days

Whether you're looking for something to add to your morning basket, a little independent math practice, or a fun way to review phonics skills, these Halloween busy boxes are easy to work into your day.

Just pull out a mat, grab a few supplies, and let your little learner get to work!

You don't need a complicated lesson plan or an elaborate setup to make learning fun and meaningful.

Sometimes a few colorful task cards and some pom poms are all it takes. 🧡

If you'd love to add some simple, hands-on Halloween learning to your homeschool routine, these busy boxes are ready for you!

Cheering you on!

P.s. Have a younger learner at home? I also have a Halloween Busy Box designed specifically for preschoolers and kindergarteners!
