Simple Easter Outdoor Activities for Preschoolers
Hey there, friend!
If your little ones have been extra wiggly lately… you’re not imagining it.
This time of year, they need to move.
The weather is getting nicer, the excitement is building, and sitting still just isn’t it right now. Haha!
This is the PERFECT time to take learning (and play) outside!
So today, I’m sharing a few simple Easter-themed outdoor activities that are easy to set up and perfect for preschoolers.
Why Take It Outside?
Sometimes the best thing we can do is just change the environment and get some fresh air.
Everything feels easier outside:
more space to move
fewer distractions
happier moods (for them and us)
And the best part? You can still sneak in so much learning through play.
🐣 Easy Easter Activities to Do Outside
These are all super simple and use things you probably already have.
🥚 Easter Egg Hunt (With a Twist)
Of course we’re doing an egg hunt, but you can make it a little more meaningful with just one small change.
Try adding:
letters
numbers
or colors inside the eggs
As kids find them, you can:
name the letter or number
sort them
or match them
Still fun… just a little more purposeful!
🐰 Bunny Hop Hopscotch
Draw a simple hopscotch board with chalk, but make it Easter-themed:
draw bunny ears
add eggs or carrots
You can even write:
numbers
letters
or shapes inside each square
Kids hop and say what they land on…learning and movement work so well together!
🎨 Easter Chalk Drawing
This one is so simple, but always a favorite.
Let kids draw:
eggs
bunnies
flowers
Or give them a little direction:
“Can you draw 3 eggs?”
“Can you draw something that starts with B?”
It’s creative, open-ended, and great for early learning.
Movement is added to this one super easily too! Draw eggs with letters, numbers, colors, etc. on them and have kids name the letter as they hop on each egg. Movement + skill practice = mastery!
🥕 Bunny Toss Game
Set up a basket or bucket and have kids toss “carrots” (or anything you have) into it.
You can:
count how many go in
take turns
or practice simple addition (“You got 2, now 1 more!”)
Great for gross motor skills and little bits of academics too!
🌸 Easter Nature Hunt
Make a simple list of things to find:
something green
a flower
something small
Or tie it into Easter:
“Find something that could be a bunny’s home”
“Find something the color of an egg”
This is such a calm, simple activity that kids really enjoy.

Want to Keep the Learning Going Inside Too?
If your kids are anything like mine, transitioning back inside can sometimes be the tricky part.
One thing that’s helped me is having simple, hands-on activities ready to go that feel just as engaging as being outside.
That’s exactly why I love using things like:
sensory bins
matching and sorting activities
printables
They keep that same playful feeling, just in a more structured way inside.
If you want something easy to use, I’ve put together a set of Easter sensory bin activities and printables that work really well for preschoolers.
They’re:
simple to prep
hands-on
and designed for little learners

Keep It Simple
You don’t need anything fancy to make learning with littles fun! No perfect setups or set plans needed.
You just need:
✔ a little fresh air
✔ a simple idea
✔ and kids who get to move and explore
That’s when the best kind of learning happens!
This time of year can feel a little busy…
…but it’s also such a sweet season to slow down, go outside, and let kids be kids.
These simple activities are some of my favorites because they’re easy, flexible, and actually enjoyable for everyone.
I hope they make your days feel a little lighter and a lot more fun.
Cheering you on 💛
Alleah
